ESG Conference
The Development Bank of North Macedonia, within the framework of the Conference dedicated to the importance of environmental, social issues and governance (ESG) criteria and organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in North Macedonia (AmCham), presented its current activities and future plans related to the financing of ESG activities of micro, small and medium-sized commercial companies from the country.
At the panel dedicated to access to finance, financial instruments and sources of financing, the head of the Plan and Analysis Department in DBNM, Dr. Goran Kovachev, spoke about the terms and conditions of the credit line intended for energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy sources ( RES) provided with the help of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as the interest of the companies, i.e. the purpose of the investments financed by it. He emphasized that as part of ESG investments, in addition to this specialized credit line, companies can also use other products of the Development Bank.
Dr. Kovachev also referred to the bank's future plans. Namely, thanks to the recapitalization of the bank in the amount of EUR 10 million that the RNM Government carried out at the end of last year, the credit line for energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energy sources (RES) will be continued in the next period. In addition, the latest seventh consecutive agreement with the EIB was announced in the form of a credit line in the amount of EUR 100 million, which will soon be made available to Macedonian companies, and with which at least 30% of the funds will be reserved for financing ESG projects.
Emphasis was also placed on the activities of the bank to find additional sources of funds from foreign creditors for the needs of the companies, in order for it to continue to perform its development function determined by law.
